Baggage-free

Remember what it was like to take pictures just because? Just to see what the picture looked like, or to remember something later? This is the state that I’m trying, constantly, to return to – unfettered and unpolluted by notions of telling a story, building a portfolio, creating a meaningful ‘body of work’, developing a consistent style, considering a sense of authorship, worrying about context of presentation, which camera, which lens, ETC. Shooting without any agenda at all… like when you first pick up a camera.
For example, this picture taken this morning by my wife, called (via email subject) ‘Poor birdie’. Unadulterated observation.
